ID’s

WHAT ID DO I NEED?

A great thing about The Villages is the wide variety of amenities, including golf, pools, fitness centers, pickleball, hundreds of club activities and much more.  To use the amenities you will need an ID.  The two types of ID’s are Resident ID’s (also known as Lifestyle ID’s) and Guest ID’s.  After making a reservation we will contact you asking which ID you prefer.  We will also ask for the name, birthdate, and address for each person requiring an ID so we can submit the application for you.  The Villages requires applications for Resident ID’s to be submitted 30 days in advance, Guest ID’s 3 days in advance.  We understand sometimes reservations are made last minute – in most cases we can work with The Villages to expedite the application.  Please submit the requested information in a timely manner so we can help ensure ID’s are ready upon your arrival.

  • Resident ID’s.  The primary reason to request a Residents ID is for golfing or using the Sports Pools.  A Residents ID is required to make tee times using the advance tee time booking system.  Resident ID holders can play any of the Executive Golf Courses for FREE (when walking – there is ~$4 cart path fee for using a cart).  Resident ID holders also get membership and discounted greens fees at all of The Villages Golf and Country Clubs.  If you want to golf during your stay, it is highly recommended you get a Residents ID.  During the offseason it may be possible to show up at a course and get out to play with only a Guest ID, but it’s based on availability and you won’t be able to make a tee time.  It will be very challenging to walk on during the busier seasons (October – December are busy, January – April are very busy).  A Residents ID is also required to use the Sports Pools (not required for Family or Adult Pools).  There is a $50 charge for up to two Residents ID’s.  This is paid directly to The Villages when you pickup the ID’s.  There is a limit per household of two Resident ID’s (limit applies to permanent residents as well).  Other guests can still golf with a Guest ID, but would rely on Resident ID holders to make the reservations.
  • Guest ID’s.  A Guest ID will provide access to all of the amenities, with the exception of those described above.  There is no charge for a Guest ID, nor is there a limit to how many you can request.  Guest ID’s are only available to people whose home address is outside of Lake, Sumter and Marion counties.  A Guest ID is required for all guests one year of age and older.  If a guest is under 19 years of age, they must be accompanied by a Resident ID holder or a guest 19 years of age or older.  All guests are required to also carry a valid photo ID when using amenities.
