When driving a golf cart off the golf course, you must stay on golf cart approved paths and roads.  A great thing about The Villages is it is designed as a golf cart community, and there are paths to get you almost anywhere.  However, there are roads that prohibit golf cart use, so it can be easy to get lost if you can’t drive the golf cart on a familiar road that is prohibited for golf cart use.

If you aren’t very familiar The Villages golf cart paths, we recommend you download the VillagesGPS app from the iOS or Google (Android) Play Store for a small fee (~$6).  We have no affiliation with this app, but it has saved us from getting lost many times!  You can select directions for either Golf Carts or Automobiles.  If Golf Carts is selected, the app will direct you on approved paths throughout The Villages.   The home screen allows you to search for popular destinations with the click of a button, such as Town Squares, Recreation Centers, Golf Courses, Pools, Restaurants, Shopping and more.  The app can also sort all of the chosen destinations by distance.  A screenshot of the app’s home page is shown to the right, along with the Apps icon.  All of the golf carts at the BelleAire, Roanoke and Caroline Retreats have a phone holder for your safety and convenience as shown in figure to the right.
