PICKLEBALL IN THE VILLAGES
Pickleball is extremely popular in The Villages, with over 200 courts available at 38 Recreation Centers and Areas. Don't know how to play - no problem! There are players of all levels in The Villages, and many instructional opportunities and camps to learn the game or work on improving. The Villages Recreation Department and the Pickleball Community Volunteer Group (PCVG) coordinate pickleball activities in The Villages.
If interested in playing in a league or tournament, there are many that suit all playing abilities. The PCVG has a system to assign players a rating based on a team of judges assessing players ability to serve, return serve, volley, smash, dink, hit forehands, backhands, etc.. Beginner ratings are between 2.0 and 2.5, intermediates are between 3.0 and 3.5, and advanced between 4.0 and 4.5.
To learn more about instructional programs, drills and clinics, leagues, tournaments, rules, rating information and updates on court closings, visit the PCVG website by clicking button below.
The Villages Recreations and Parks publishes a weekly book with schedules for all of the Recreation Centers and Areas. The book can be obtained at any Recreation Center, viewed in the Thursday Daily Sun, or viewed online by clicking button below. It is highly recommended to check the court schedules prior to heading out.
